I got titanfall 2 a while ago on origin for 12 bucks but the playerbase there is super small, I was wondering if it would have crossplay so i would get the same playerbase as steam since there was already a post showing it reached 10k players.
Although the series first launched 6 years ago, Titanfall remains a beloved franchise for fans of developer Respawn Entertainment. The first game in the franchise launched as an Xbox One console exclusive, leaving PlayStation fans out in the cold. While it launched exclusively for PC players on EA Origin, even Steam users were left wondering what all the excitement was about. Titanfall 2 eventually launched as a multiplatform title, even hitting Steam earlier this year after EA brought its games to the service, becoming a big hit. Now, EA is attempting to replicate that success with the first game on Steam, though things have gotten a little out of control.
The original Titanfall, a former Origin exclusive for PC players, surprised launched on Steam this week. With how beloved the series is to fans, many were shocked to see the game's review plummet to a Mostly Negative reception from fans. While it's easy to point the finger at what would be a lower than expected player base for a online-only experience, reading through some of the reviews actually reveal a very different reason for all of the hate.

Players are reporting that Titanfall is largely unplayable on Steam from a variety of issues and bugs that have somehow crept in. A large portion of players continue to have server related issues that include being randomly kicked from attempting to join a match. This tends to result in the player selecting a game mode to matchmake for, the game attempts to load into a match, but ends up looping back to the start screen every time. Others have reported issues with the DLC content, with the game indicating that the player is missing content even though it is already included.
Titanfall 2 Cheap Steam Key
Naturally, this has set off a firestorm of comments from the community with many wondering why Respawn and EA would release a game in this state. While fans continue to hold out hope for an update, one may not be coming as these issues are apparently not new for the PC version.
The Titanfall subReddit is quite familiar with this problem which first started appearing on Origin nearly a year ago. The issues appear to be from exploits that have been added to the Titanfall servers by hackers to crash anything from game servers to game clients. The problems has since pushed many Origin players away and if it is not corrected soon on Steam, it may suffer a similar fate.
It's both surprising and disappointing that Titanfall was released in this state. Steam had a huge effect in reviving Titanfall 2 on the PC when it launched earlier this year, not only helping it become a top selling game, but attracting nearly 7,000 concurrent users for a game that launched over 4 years ago. The Titanfall Steam release likely would have had a similar effect, but if these issues remain unchecked, it has almost no shot at success.

This week saw EA bring a number of its games to Steam, releasing existing titles like The Sims 4 and Dead Space 3 for one of the PC platform’s largest marketplaces, and from the looks of it, none of these games are benefiting from the increased exposure quite like Titanfall 2.

It’s no secret that Respawn Entertainment’s sequel hasn’t seen the popularity most major first-person shooters have seen. Released in late October 2016, it had the unfortunate honor of launching right between two of that year’s biggest FPSs, EA’s own Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It was a move many felt was EA effectively gutting the game's sales potential in order to avoid any competition with Battlefield 1.

In the years since, the game has tended to be played by only the most loyal and hardcore of players, but this week’s Steam release appears to have led to a large influx of newcomers. In fact, as of this writing, Titanfall 2 is currently the top-selling game on Steam, beating out perennial hits like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and hot new titles like Hardspace: Shipbreaker and Satisfactory.
Eurogamer also reports that the game has attracted nearly 7,000 players on Steam. That number may be pretty insignificant next to the concurrent user counts of the most popular Steam games, but it’s still enough to place Titanfall 2 among the 100 most-played games on the platform. Better yet, 7,000 players is still large enough to make Steam a viable platform for newcomers to try out the game’s multiplayer.
This is hardly the first time this has happened, though, as Titanfall 2 has seen occasional bursts of increased popularity throughout the years, like when the massive launch of series offshoot Apex Legends led to increased interest in Titanfall 2. Most recently, the game saw an explosion of new players on console when it was included in PlayStation Plus’ selection of free games for December 2019.
It may be a bummer for Titanfall fans that the game never really got its due, especially since the general consensus among those who have played it is that Titanfall 2 is one of the finest shooters of recent years, with rich and fluid multiplayer on top of one of the most memorable single-player campaigns in a shooter. If the Steam launch so far is any indication, though, there’s a fair chance plenty of new players will soon be trying it out for themselves.
